ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Overview 2026–2027

The ECTRIMS Fellowship is from the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis. It wants to help scientists do good research on MS and brain problems. You work in a European lab with a mentor. The program is for basic, clinical or applied research. You can stay 1 or 2 years. Shorter stays are okay in special cases. Eligibility Requirements for 2026 Intake

You can apply if you meet these rules.

  • Applicants from all countries can apply
  • Research must be done in a European lab or clinic
  • At application time:
    • Maximum 1 year postdoc experience with the same host/mentor OR
    • Maximum 5 years total postdoc experience after your final degree
  • Language depends on the host institution rules
  • You and your mentor must confirm there will be no language problem during training
  • Usually applicants should be under 40 years old
  • Exceptions may be considered in special cases
  • You must complete your advanced degree before the fellowship starts
  • Eligible degrees include MD, PhD, ScD, or equivalent

After Fellowship (Career Plan)

  • It is preferred (but not required) to return to your home institution after fellowship
  • You should explain your future career plan in the application
