The University of Southampton Scholarships 2027 help international students pay less for undergraduate and master’s study in the UK. The Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship and the postgraduate Global Excellence Scholarship each give £3,000 off tuition fees.

University of Southampton Scholarships Overview 2027
The University of Southampton is a strong research university in the United Kingdom. It offers many full-time undergraduate and master’s programmes. The Global Excellence Scholarships help international students who pay overseas fees. There is one for bachelor’s students and one for master’s students. Both currently give £3,000 toward tuition.

The Chevening–Southampton award is a partnership with the UK government’s Chevening programme. It covers almost everything for a one-year master’s degree. Eligibility Requirements for 2027 Intake
You must also meet the normal entry and English requirements for your chosen course.
Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship
- You are an international student who pays overseas fees.
- You hold a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible full-time undergraduate programme.
- You study in person and start in Year 1.
- Not available for foundation years, distance learning, or programmes at the Malaysia or Delhi campuses.
Global Excellence Scholarship (Master’s)
- You are an international student who pays overseas fees.
- You hold a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible full-time, in-person master’s programme.
- You meet the tuition fee deposit condition.
- You are self-funded.
- Students from China, India, Nigeria, Thailand and Vietnam currently use separate country-specific awards instead of the general one.
Chevening–Southampton Scholarship
- You are a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country.
- You agree to return home for at least two years after the scholarship.
- You have an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s.
- You finished your degree at least two years before the application deadline.
- You have at least 2,800 hours of work experience after your undergraduate degree.
- You apply to three different eligible UK master’s courses.
- You get at least one unconditional offer.
- For the partnership award, choose Southampton as your first-choice university.

Deadlines are different for each award.
Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship
No separate scholarship deadline has been published for 2027. Follow the normal admission deadlines for your course. The university will update the page when ready.
Global Excellence Scholarship
The 2027 deadline is not yet published. Southampton will update the page in autumn 2026. Under the current scheme awards are given on a first-come, first-served basis after you pay the deposit.
Chevening–Southampton Scholarship

- Interviews: March to April 2027

Late Chevening applications are not accepted.

Most Excellence awards use the papers you already send for admission. You may need:

Chevening applicants first give education and work history plus two referee contacts. Later they upload the degree certificate, photo ID and two reference letters.

- Complete the Chevening online application in your own words. Do not use AI-generated answers.
- Apply separately for admission to Southampton.
- If shortlisted, upload documents and attend the interview.
- Get a qualifying university offer and submit it through Chevening.
