The Korean Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia is happy to announce that applications for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS Malaysia) 2026 are now open. This scholarship gives Malaysian students the chance to study for Master’s Doctoral or Research programs in South Korea.
This program is funded by the Korean government and helps excellent students who want to do advanced studies or research at top universities in Korea.
GKS 2026 Quota for Malaysia
Embassy Track
- Total spots for Malaysians: 22 (for graduate programs only)
- Applicants must apply through the Korean Embassy in Malaysia
- Selection includes document checks interviews and final approval by NIIED
University Track
- Details and quotas for Malaysians will be shared later on the Study in Korea website
Key Dates and Deadlines for GKS 2026 (Malaysia)
- Application deadline: Wednesday February 25, 2026 by 5:00 PM
- Document results: Around March 10, 2026
- Interviews: Mid-March 2026
- Final results: June to July 2026
- Expected departure to Korea: August 2026
- Late applications will NOT be accepted

Required Documents for Embassy Track (Malaysia)
- Completed GKS 2026 application forms (official versions only)
- Passport copy
- Academic transcripts and graduation certificate
- Certificate of Expected Graduation (if still studying)
- Personal statement and study plan
- Four (4) sealed recommendation letters
- Medical check form
- Documents verified by Wisma Putra
- Optional extras like language test results or awards
Only shortlisted candidates need to submit certified original documents later
Application Instructions for Malaysians
- On the checklist write “Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia” as receiving institution
- Use your exact passport name
- All papers must be in English or Korean (with translations if needed)
Update for 2026 Applicants
- Students graduating by July 31, 2026 can apply with an Expected Graduation Certificate
- BUT they must submit final proof of graduation by end of July
- Failing this means losing the scholarship
