This GKS Scholarship USA initiative provides international students with the opportunity to pursue graduate-level degrees at Korean higher educational institutions, promoting international education exchange and mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

Scholarship Objectives
- Educational Exchange: To foster academic and cultural interactions between Korea and international students.
- Mutual Friendship: To strengthen bilateral relationships and understanding between Korea and participating countries.
- Academic Opportunity: To provide international students with a pathway to achieve advanced degrees in Korea.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:
Nationality
- The student and his parents should not hold Korean citizenship.
Age Requirement
- Applicants must be under 40 years of age (i.e., born after September 1, 1984).
Degree Requirements
- Applicants should have already obtained or expect to obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree by February 29, 2025.
Academic Performance
Applicants must meet one of the following grade benchmarks:
- CGPA of 2.64 on a 4.0 scale
- CGPA of 2.80 on a 4.3 scale
- CGPA of 2.91 on a 4.5 scale
- CGPA of 3.23 on a 5.0 scale
- Alternatively, a score percentile in the 80th percentile or above
Health Requirements
- Applicants must be in good physical and mental health to study for the full program duration.
Application Process – Step by Step
Step 1: Prepare Required Documents
Gather the following documents. Ensure you have one set of original documents along with three identical photocopy sets:

- Study Plan
- Research Proposal (Required only for Research Program applicants)
- One Letter of Recommendation
- Letter of Invitation
- GKS Applicant Agreement
- Personal Medical Assessment
- Permission to Gather and Utilize Personal Data
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Diploma or Degree Certificate/Graduation Certificate
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Transcript
- Applicant’s Proof of Citizenship
- Parents’ Proof of Citizenship
> Note: > All certificates can be submitted without the Apostille initially. However, successful candidates must later obtain Apostilled Certificates after the interview results are declared by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the USA on March 18th.
Step 2: Verify Your Eligibility
Before proceeding with your application, double-check that you meet all eligibility criteria regarding:

Step 3: Submission of Application
Applicants residing in the USA must submit their completed application package to the designated Korean Education Center or Korean Consulate General. The submission should follow regional guidelines based on your state of residence or current enrollment if you are a student.
- For Applicants in DC, VA, MD, WV: Submit to the Korean Education Center in Washington DC.
- For Other States: Refer to your corresponding regional center as listed in Section 5 below.
Step 4: Track Important Dates
- Application Deadline for DC, VA, MD, WV: February 29, 2025
- Interview & Apostilled Documents: Submit after March 1,8 2025 (if selected)
